University of the Third Age students are back to school
On Thursday, 13th of October, ceremonial inauguration of another University of the Third Age academic year took place at the Municipal and Communal Office conference hall. It served as an opportunity to express gratitude for previous academic years, congratulate for various achievements and to wish each other a happy new academic year. These wishes were given to the university's students by mayor Leszek Kopeć, deputy mayor Ewa Kondek Ph.D., county council member Jerzy Chudy and Szczepan Janas, parson of St. Bartholomew Parish in Staszów. The inauguration ceremony's highlight was a lecture by Małgorzata Makowska Ph.D., chancellor of State Higher Vocational School in Sandomierz, titled "Agreements with a happy life". After the official part of the inauguration, a musical performance by students of Stanisław Moniuszko Music School in Staszów was enjoyed by everyone gathered at the conference hall.
University of the Third Age students are mostly senior citizens. Attending the university's lectures is an excellent past time activity. Older people can enrich their knowledge, discover new capabilities and follow their passions. Furthermore, the university is also a way of preserving intellectual, physical and mental health. The University of the Third Age remains popular in our region - this year, several new students received their student cards from the Senate.
